What do you mean by steel pipe coupling?
Steel pipe coupling is a very short length of tube used in piping or plumbing, it usually refers to the socket weld or a threaded on one or both ends that allows two tubes connected together. The root gap size can be adjusted according to the size of the fitting and the welding process being used. For example, if I were doing 4" pipe and TIG or SMAW welding the root, I would use a 3/32" root gap and 1/8" filler metal.

Tips on removing weld from inside of a pipe
Jan 25, 2015 · I needed to remove the weld from a piece of pipe to fit a bolt through. I know you said you don't want to use a boring bar, but it will work. I made a boring bar out of a piece of 25 mm bar out of my scrap bin. Might have been 304 stainless, not sure. I used a 6 mm square hss cutter bit. Polyethylene Pipe and Fittings made Easy by Matrix Piping one metal welded pipe fitting welded steel pipe boring
One of the benefits of polyethylene piping is the ability for it to be welded at 100% of pipe strength. So strong is the weld, that in destructive testing, the pipe either side of the weld will let go before the weld itself does. The bead of a butt weld can be removed both internally and externally, allowing for easy installation in trenchless boring methods, and to minimise internal flow disruption.Pipes - Visual Encyclopedia of Chemical EngineeringGeneral Information
The purpose of fittings is to make directional changes in a piping system and to connect pipes of different sizes. Most pipe fittings are made by casting, forging, hot-forming, or cold-forming. The purpose of return bends and elbows is to change the direction of flow. Caps close off the ends of pipes that are not connected to other components. Saddles are used to add a connection to a pipe that did not previously have one. Reducers are used to connect pipes of different sizes.
